The Double-Edged Sword of “Healthy” Fast Food By Tom Venuto
What’s on the menu at the big fast food chains lately? Oddly enough, the answer is… “health food!” Even more incongruous, many are marketing their food for weight loss. Healthy weight loss food at Taco Bell and McDonalds? Is this a noble move to be applauded, is it a big corporate money grab, or is it a double edged sword?
Remember Jared Fogle, the Subway guy? He lost 245 pounds while eating at Subway regularly. He simply picked the lower calorie menu items. Seeing an opportunity, the local store owner pitched Subway corporate with an idea. Before long, Jared was the company spokesperson in their nationwide advertising campaigns which became known as The Subway Diet.

Plate Size Diet Myth Debunked
Your plate size probably won't change the way you eat. A new study has debunked the diet myth that a eating off of a smaller plate will help you to consume fewer calories. New research published in the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics found that plate size had no impact on the calorie consumption of either normal weight or obese individuals.
For years, dieters have been advised to choose a smaller plate at mealtime in order to limit the amount of food that they eat. The theory was that your meal will look larger on a smaller plate and you'll be less likely to overeat. But according to the new study, both normal weight and obese individuals consumed roughly the same amount of calories on both small and large plates.

Weight Loss Plans that Fit Your Lifestyle
This is one of the most important factors to being successful on a diet. You want it to feel comfortable and fit into your lifestyle so that while you are loosing weight it does not feel like you had to make great sacrifices. Once you make these changes over time they will become more comfortable and it will be easier to adjust to them. Try to develop a way of eating and an exercise plan that is easy for you to do no matter how much you work or do not have time to make meals. The one thing you want to avoid is making excuses why the program that you are using is not working.
If you are always on the go and do not have a lot of time to prepare foods you should choose a meal plan that has the meals already prepared to make it easier on you. Trying to loose weight on a no card diet and you don't like to eat meat can set you up for failure. Remember to make it fit what your likes and dislikes are so that you can have weight loss over a lifetime. If you have the time to prepare meals ahead of time so when you get home from work they are ready for you this can be helpful as well. Also you might want to invest in something like a crock pot so that you can set it in the morning and it will be ready for you when you get home.

Exercise And Healthy Eating To Lose Weight - Is It Really Enough?
Gaining a little extra weight is fairly normal, and you may be able to carry a few pounds without too much trouble. But if you start getting too overweight, then it's time to start thinking about exercise and healthy eating to lose weight. The key word here is 'and', as you will soon see.
New diets seem to come out every day. They all make bold claims, and one of the most common claims is that the particular weight loss plan is the easiest ever. All you need to do is follow some contrived plan of eating the right food at the right time; and the wackier, the better! You may actually be able to lose weight by following these diets, but it's not because of the gimmick the plan uses. Allow me to explain.

Exercise And Healthy Eating To Lose Weight The Easy Way
Obesity is at record levels, and people are dying because of it! Hopefully that got your attention. It seems as though we are constantly being told just how bad the problem of people being overweight is, and the trend seems to be going up. At the same time, there are people who are interested in exercise and healthy eating to lose weight. Unfortunately, far too many of them don't lose any weight, and some end up weighing more than when they started. What follows are some ways to keep this from happening to you.
The basic formula for calories is that 3,500 calories equals one pound of body weight. In other words, if you take in that many calories, you will gain a pound; if you burn off that many calories you will lose a pound. There are some slight variations based on the foods you eat and what activities you do, but this simple formula is good to know.

Are There Really Any Healthy Eating Diets
There is no doubt that the market place is filled with countless programs that claim to be the last word in healthy eating diets. One plan may allow you to eat all of the whole grains and vegetables you want, while the next may all but eliminate them. The problem is that there is no way they can all be right, and not all of them can be wrong; this leads to confusion, and this confusion is often all the excuse people need to not try any healthy diet at all. How are you supposed to tell which ones are good or bad; and which ones should be avoided versus which ones are worth trying?
What may surprise you is that some of the most popular diets are not necessarily the most healthy. The truth is that a lot of them are based around a gimmick of some kind, and the rest of the diet relies on some basic principles found in all healthy eating diets. This creates the illusion that the gimmick makes it work, but the harsh reality is that the gimmick is often the least healthy aspect of such diets.

Are There Bad Effects Of The Atkins Diet
It wasn't all that long ago that the Atkins Diet was making the news. People were excited about the idea of being able to eat all the meat they wanted and still lose a lot of weight. The interest in the diet was staggering, and enough people saw impressive results to keep the diet at the forefront for quite some time. It seemed to be more than just a regular fad diet. However, it didn't take long for people to start questioning the potential bad effects of the Atkins Diet.
Well, the Atkins Diet is still around. It may not get nearly as much attention as it used to, but there are plenty of people who start the program on a daily basis. This is a mark in its favor as it shows it is more than just a fad diet. In fact, a lot of other diets have come and gone since Atkins made its initial splash. But what about the supposed bad effects of the Atkins diet?

Unrealistic Expectations Can Sabotage Weight Loss Goals
Resolution season is in full swing or perhaps already winding down. If you have given up by now on this year’s weight loss efforts and old habits start creeping back in – you’re not alone. About 90 percent of all the promises we make to ourselves are quickly forgotten, according to Tom Connellan, author of the “1 Percent Solution – How to Make Your Next 30 Days the Best Ever.”
“Some people’s New Year’s resolutions are so broad that they’re often unattainable,” says Leslie Fink, a Registered Dietitian and contributing writer for Weight Watchers. “When expectations are set too high, it doesn’t take much to throw a person off.” Instead of aiming for a perfect score, she advises, people should be content with 80 percent of their initial objectives. That by itself would qualify as a great success.
